Rehabilitation Center
At Makai's very own rehabilitation center, animal & plant care and health are of number 1 importance. Every animal rescued and properly cared for that retains a full bill of health, is released back into the water.
Every animal unable to return to the water due to permanent injury or health issues remains at Makai Aquarium where they can live out the rest of their lives peacefully & happily.
Any coral or ocean plant samples collected are kept for research in our lab. We use the samples to find what nutrients are needed for growth as well as, what harms the plants in order to learn how we can prevent it.
